Life is a cycle.
I used to blog on my own GeoShitty site years ago. I applied my wit, back then, to telling amusing personal stories and ranting about the current events. To give you a rough idea of the timeframe, at the time, I endorsed John Kerry over Bush the Younger with all the passion that a very disinterested Canadian observer can muster.
Years! Centuries! Millenia! O Discordia, Stephen King would say.
Since then I’ve changed jobs three times, have received two university diplomas, started eating better in an attempt at fighting the growing spare tire I lug around – and which almost seems to have sprung overnight sometime between when I stopped jogging and got into a certain nameless MMORPG. In other words, lots of things have changed, and I’ve stopped writing.
To be fair, so far, WordPress is light-years more advanced than GeoCities ever was if blogging’s your poison, and I’ve always considered LiveJournal to be Emo Central. So here I am, typing away, not quite sure why but still doing it. The rusty butcher knife will require plenty of sharpening; what grindstone shall we choose?
I initially considered starting a blog/website about TF2, and more specifically about the Medic and all the intricacies of playing him. But, to be honest, TF2 is as much a source of pleasure as it can be a source of frustration: twenty minutes of being on a sucky team with five Pyros and three Spies trying to defend Dustbowl, and I’m about ready to choke a bitch, pardon my French. So I’m sure my entries would end up equal parts haughty lessons about how YOU ALWAYS WATCH FOR FUCKING SPIES and vitriol on HOW THAT FUCKING SPY FACESTABBED ME AGAIN.
Plus, I love (read: REALLY LOOOOOOOVE) to give my opinion on everything and anything. Freaking love it. But I don’t watch movies much anymore, don’t watch TV, don’t really follow any bands or music trends… hmm, what’s left?
Well, there’s my latest passion, anime.
I’ll leave the genesis of my interest in cartoons from Wacky Rising Sun Land for another time – probably next time! – but, for now, suffice to say I’ve spent a lot of time in the last, oh, six months or so swallowing every series and OVA that crossed my path. People will tell you being unemployed is all kinds of bad for your finances and your health because of the stress it creates, but trust me, I’ve never been so grateful for a hiatus. It’s allowed me to discover another world I’d never truly set foot in, and being a born explorer, I could barely tear myself away from the screen during those six months to tend to the most basic bodily functions. Yes, you can call me focused and intense. Or a nerd! That works too! ^_^
You’ll notice that the blog theme (at this time) is minimalistic and not neon pink with flashing anime girls showing off their racks. That is a conscious decision. If you’re looking for me to drool over the latest fanservice series, well, I probably won’t. (Unless one of the main characters happens to be a hot pink-haired girl who rides a red meccha in a doggy-style cockpit. I’ll let you figure it out.)
So! Here I am. Here you are. There will be words, trying to pin down what exactly fascinated me about such series, or what made me loathe another with every fiber of my ripped, masculine body. I hope you’ll check back from time to time: I have no schedule as of yet, but hey, once the verbal diarrhea starts it’s never let up yet. So you can count on that.
